    About the 2-2-3 schedule

The 2-2-3 schedule is a 12-hour pattern that repeats every 14 days: work 2 days, take 2 off, work 3, take 2 off, work 2, take 3 off. Four crews share it so the site is covered day and night. Each crew works 7 shifts in 14 days, an average of 42 hours a week.

It comes in two versions. In the fixed version, usually called the Pitman schedule, two crews always work days and two always work nights. In the rotating version, usually called the Panama schedule, each crew works two weeks of days and then two weeks of nights. This page opens with the fixed version. Switch the pattern to Panama if your crews rotate.

When the cycle starts on a Monday, you get every other weekend off as a three-day weekend, Friday to Sunday. The weekend card above counts the full weekends off for your start date.

    Questions

What is a 2-2-3 work schedule?

    A 14-day rotation of 12-hour shifts: 2 on, 2 off, 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off. Four crews cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How many hours a week is a 2-2-3 schedule?

It averages 42 hours: seven 12-hour shifts every 14 days, so 36 hours one week and 48 the next.

Is 2-2-3 the same as Pitman or Panama?

They share the same 2-2-3 rhythm. Pitman usually means crews stay on days or on nights. Panama usually means crews switch between days and nights every two weeks. Employers use the names loosely, so check your posted schedule.

Do I get weekends off on a 2-2-3?

Every other weekend, as a three-day Friday to Sunday break, when the cycle starts on a Monday.

Is there a printable 2-2-3 schedule template?

Yes. Set your crew and start date, then press Print the whole year. You get a 12-month 2-2-3 calendar for your crew, two pages, ready to print or save as a PDF. It uses your own start date, so it matches your posted schedule instead of a generic grid.

    Is this my official schedule?

No. It is generated from the standard pattern. Your employer's posted schedule is the one that counts.
