    About the 24/48 schedule

In the 24/48 schedule you work one 24-hour shift, then have 48 hours off. Three crews, usually called A, B and C, rotate so one is always on duty. It is common in fire departments, where crews are often called platoons.

The cycle is only 3 days long. You work 1 day in 3 and average 56 hours a week. Because 3 does not divide evenly into 7, your shift lands on a different weekday each week.

Some departments add extra scheduled days off to this pattern. This generator shows the plain 24/48 rotation, so check it against your posted schedule.

    Questions

How many hours a week is a 24/48 schedule?

It averages 56 hours: one 24-hour shift every 3 days.

    Which crew am I?

Ask your supervisor, or use the "Today is day" option to line the calendar up with the shift you know you are on.

    What is a Kelly day?

A scheduled extra day off that some 24-hour rotations add. It is not part of the basic 24/48 pattern, so if your department uses one, follow its posted rota.

What time does the shift start?

Pick the start time in the setup card. Many crews start at 7:00 or 8:00 a.m. The time is used for the calendar export.

    Is this my official schedule?

No. It is generated from the standard pattern. Your employer's posted schedule is the one that counts.
